PLS Explores “Unearthed: Raw Beauty” at the LA County Natural History Museum

Members of Pasadena Lapidary Society beat the heat with an indoor field trip

On July 24, twenty-two PLS members gathered at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County to explore the stunning new mineral exhibit, “Unearthed: Raw Beauty.” The highlight of the day was a behind-the-scenes tour of the mineral lab, generously hosted by Dr. Anthony Kampf, Curator Emeritus of Mineral Sciences. It was truly a fantastic way to spend a summer afternoon. “Unearthed: Raw Beauty” is a one-of-a-kind exhibition showcasing some of the largest and rarest mineral specimens ever displayed in their natural, uncut form.
